About PSI

A group of IIT-educated professionals, some with two decades of experience in the field of development, and their friends, established People's Science Institute (PSI) in 1988. (PSI) as a non-profit research and development organization. Its stated mission is, “To help eradicate poverty through the empowerment of the poor and the productive, sustainable and equitable use of available human and natural resources.” Its technical and managerial support to communities and organizations that work with them; implements development programmes and undertakes public interest research.
The Institute is known in India's voluntary sector for its pioneering work in the fields of community-led watershed-based livelihoods development, environmental quality monitoring, disaster-safe housing and dissemination of appropriate technologies

About the position

PSI is looking for a self-driven, motivated and passionate person to engage with the organization. S/he will have to work closely with the PSI in delivering the target-based output in its various program relating to Participatory Groundwater Management. The role includes the technical support, management support and administrative functioning in any given program/project.

Skills and Qualifications

1.   Master’s or equivalent in geology or applied geology or hydrogeology from a university incorporated by an act of center or state legislature.
2.   Relevant experience of more than 7 years in the field of Hydrogeology, Aquifer mapping, Ground water management, Watershed management.
3.   Sound knowledge of field operations, Preparation of geological map, Cross section, Aquifer maps, experience of water conservation structure feasibility assessment/planning and friendly with GIS software
4.   Excellent written and oral communication skills
5.   Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
6.   Ability to work comprehensively on multiple projects simultaneously
7.   Familiarity with the Haryana/Alluvial/Aravali Region is desirable
8.   Extensive travel to remote areas is non-negligible
